of Finland, Sauli Niinistö, on a tour of Finntown Sunset Park Brooklyn NY, on Monday, Sept. 21, 2021.
The President requested the tour to take place when he would have an opportunity to make time for it,
while he was in New York for the United Nations General Assembly meeting

The Consul General of Finland to New York, Ambassador Mika Koskinen, hosted a two day meeting of thirteen Honorary Consuls from around the
United States at the Consulate General of Finland office in New York City on November 8 and 9, 2021.
At the conclusion of the first day, the group boarded a bus to meet me at the corner of 40 Street and 7 Avenue in Sunset Park, formerly Finntown, to commence the tour at Finlandia Street. From that
vantage point, I was able to point out the four Finn co-op buildings on that block alone, plus the sunset

Celebration of the 102nd Anniversary of the Independence of Finland
On December 6, 2019 at the residence of the Consul General of Finland to New York in New York City, distinguished members of the Finnish and Finnish American community attended a reception in celebration of the 102nd Anniversary of the Independence of Finland. The festive occasion was an excellent opportunity to mingle, network, and socialize in an informal setting.

On April 9, 2019, the Consul General, Ambassador Manu Virtamo, hosted a Buffet Reception in New York City to “meet and greet” Ambassador Mika Koskinen, the next Consul General of Finland in New York, commencing July 1, 2019. Ambassador Manu Virtamo will be returning to Helsinki from New York which will be his last foreign post before retiring. Ambassador Mika Koskinen will be transferring from Lima Peru where he was Head of Mission, Embassy of Finland, Lima, since 2015. (Read more)
