The Finnish American Lawyers' Association's Annual Dinner Meeting with the Finnish American Heritage Society Banquet and FinnFun event
The Finnish American Lawyers' Association honored
Carl Anderson, Esq., for his community and professional achievements, on October
13, 2007, at the FinnFun weekend sponsored by the Finnish American Heritage
Society. A plaque was presented to FALA member Carl Anderson Esq. by Judge John
Pessala (FALA Executive Director) and Robert Alan Saasto, Esq. (FALA President)
during the cocktail hour prior to the banquet dinner on October 13, 2007, at the
Hartford/Windsor Airport Marriott, in Windsor Connecticut. Osmo Lipponen, Consul
General of Finland in New York, participated in the award ceremony.
Carl Anderson graduated from the University School of Law in 1967. He is certified as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and last year served as the President. He serves as a Trial Referee and Arbitrator/fact finder for the State of Connecticut, Superior Court, Civil Division. He is the Honorary Consul of Finland for the State of Connecticut and is Chairman of the Voluntown Democratic Town Committee. He and his wife Karen reside in Voluntown and have three children. His two sons, Christopher and Michael, also FALA members, practice law with Carl in the Anderson Law Firm P.C., located in Norwich Connecticut. His practice covers eastern Connecticut and handles cases involving personal injury, worker’s compensation, real estate, estate planning and criminal defense.
At the event, FALA member Nels Ylitalo, who graduated from Yale Law School, announced that he passed the Connecticut Bar Exam and will be shortly admitted to practice law in the State of Connecticut. He will be appropriately starting his legal career with the law firm of Finn Dixon & Herling LLP. located in Stamford, Connecticut. He intends to concentrate on mergers and acquisitions. His wife Susan is our newest FALA member. In February 2007, she completed her clerkship for Judge Stephan Underhill in Bridgeport, U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut, where she had been clerking since the fall of 2004, after graduating from Columbia Law School. Currently, she is an associate in the Trusts & Estates group at Day Pitney LLP, in Stamford, Connecticut.
To our surprise and delight, Julie Badel, Esq. flew in from Chicago for the event. She practices law with the firm of Epstein Becker & Green in Chicago, Illinois. Other FALA members attending were Ernest Saasto, Esq., and Elizabeth Pessala, Esq.
